Gold Star Families

Please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This Memorial has always been about neighbors mourning the loss of neighbors across the nation - wherever they called home. Since Memorial Day 2003 volunteers and the public here in Southern California have come together to honor and remember your loved ones. Now with their names engraved in granite they will live on in the hearts and minds of Americans forever. May God bless them and you.

If you would like to receive one or more free rubbings (tracings) of your loved one's name, please send an email to us at info@NorthwoodMemorial.com with:

  • Your hero's full name and KIA date
  • Your mail address and telephone number
  • How many rubbings you are requesting

Please allow at least two weeks for your request to be filled by a volunteer.

The names of 7,054 heroes who died between October 1, 2001 and February 18, 2022 are engraved on the panels of the Memorial. The names of newly Fallen Heroes are added several times each year after we verify the accuracy of the information published by the Department of Defense (about 5% of published names are misspelled or have an incorrect age). This research does delay the engraving of names from a given time period, but all eligible names are engraved.

To search the list of names currently on the Memorial, please go to the Fallen Heroes page of this site.
